The USB-C port in a laptop is one of the most mechanically stressed components — daily plugging and unplugging of the charger or cable eventually takes its toll. Sometimes this results in a simple loose connection, and sometimes in more serious damage where the traces on the motherboard are literally torn out together with the port. We check both cases during a free inspection (5–15 minutes).
In short: even if the traces around the port are torn off along with it, in most cases they can be rebuilt under a microscope — this doesn’t automatically mean replacing the entire motherboard.
Our experience
To repair USB-C ports, we use microscopes that make a trace as thin as a hair visible almost like your own hand. We use precision soldering irons, programmers, bottom-heated workstations, and special lacquers to rebuild worn or torn traces on the board. This approach allows us to save ports and boards that many other repair shops would immediately write off for costly motherboard replacement.

Torn traces „with flesh” — what does this actually mean
When the plug is yanked out forcefully or the port is severely strained, fragments of the copper traces on the motherboard can tear away with it — we say the traces have been ripped out 'with flesh’. It looks dramatic, and many repair shops immediately direct such customers towards a full motherboard replacement. We approach this differently: under a microscope, we reconstruct the trace path, reconnecting it and protecting it with a special conductive and protective lacquer. In the vast majority of cases, this allows us to save the original motherboard.
When you need a USB-C port replacement
Most commonly, we receive laptops where the charger plug or data cable sits loose in the port, the laptop has stopped charging despite a working charger, or there’s visible mechanical damage to the port — for example, after pulling the cable too hard or dropping the laptop.
Objawy uszkodzonego gniazda USB-C
- The plug moves loosely in the port, and moving it interrupts charging or data transfer.
- The laptop only charges when the plug is held in one specific position.
- The port is visibly bent, cracked or pushed inwards.
- Devices connected through this port are not detected by the system at all.
What other repair shops see as a reason to replace the entire motherboard is a standard procedure under the microscope for us. We rebuild the traces, protect them with special lacquer, and fit a new port — the board returns to full working order.

What happens if you delay
A loose port usually gets worse over time, and unstable contact during charging can damage the battery and, in extreme cases, cause a short circuit on the motherboard. The longer the port remains damaged, the greater the risk that a repair that is straightforward today will require rebuilding additional traces in the future.
How USB-C port replacement works at our service centre
1. Motherboard condition assessment
Under a microscope, we check whether the damage is limited to the port or also affects traces on the motherboard.
2. Removal of the damaged port
We precisely desolder the old port, taking care of the surrounding components on the motherboard.
3. Trace reconstruction, if necessary
If traces have been torn off, we reconstruct their path and protect them with special lacquer.
4. Installation and testing
We install the new port and test charging and data transfer under load.
Extended diagnostics, if needed, takes 1–3 working days. It’s free if you decide to proceed with the repair — if you decline, the cost is agreed and quoted in advance.

Frequently asked questions
Can torn traces really be rebuilt?
In most cases yes — under a microscope we reconstruct the trace path and protect it with special lacquer. We only decline extreme cases, such as complete board burn-through.
Will the port be as strong as the factory one after repair?
Yes, we fit a new port with parameters matching the original, mounted in a way that recreates factory strength.
Can the port be repaired if it’s physically bent?
Yes, in that case we simply replace the entire port with a new one, rather than trying to straighten it.
How long does such a repair take?
Usually 1–3 working days, depending on whether only the port needs replacing or trace reconstruction is also required.
Is there a warranty on such a repair?
Yes, every repair goes through a three-stage quality control, and the warranty covers both the repair and the diagnostics itself.
The cost depends on the scope — from a simple port replacement to reconstruction of torn traces. Current rates can be found in the price list.
