Torn-out port, signs of liquid damage, or a laptop that stopped working after a failed previous repair? Often the cause is a broken or damaged trace on the motherboard, which can be reconstructed under a microscope. Repair usually takes 1–3 working days.
In brief: Trace reconstruction means restoring broken or damaged connections on a laptop motherboard — for example, after a USB-C port has been torn out along with part of the circuit, after corrosion caused by liquid damage, or after an incorrect previous repair. We work under a microscope, using special conductive lacquers to reconstruct traces. Service available in Warsaw, repair usually takes 1–3 working days.
Our experience in trace reconstruction
For work on motherboard traces, we use microscopes powerful enough that a trace the width of a human hair is clearly visible. We use special conductive lacquers to restore connections, precision soldering stations, and a test point probe, so we can see exactly where the circuit is broken before we begin the repair.

Example: torn-out USB-C port
One of the more common cases where trace reconstruction is needed is a torn-out USB-C port — most often after pulling the cable too hard or dropping the laptop with the cable connected. The port tears out along with part of the circuit on the board, so simply soldering on a new port isn’t enough — first you need to reconstruct the damaged traces leading to it under a microscope, and only then fit the new port.
When you’re looking for trace reconstruction
Usually people come to us searching online for: „torn-out USB-C port laptop”, „broken trace on board after liquid damage”, or „board repair after previous repair”. If you recognise your situation in these phrases, you’ll probably solve it with us.
Symptoms — when to check motherboard traces
- Charging port or USB-C port is torn out or loose
- Laptop has previously had liquid damage and doesn’t work properly after drying
- After a previous repair at another service centre, new faults have appeared
- Visible signs of corrosion or discolouration around the damaged area
- A particular port or function stopped working after physical impact
When a USB-C port is torn out, simply replacing the port isn’t enough if a fragment of the circuit has broken off with it. Under the microscope, we can see exactly which traces need to be restored before we even solder in the new port.

What happens if you delay the repair
A broken trace on the motherboard won’t restore itself, and continued use of a damaged port or circuit can make the situation worse. Delaying usually means that:
- The damage spreads to neighbouring traces and components on the board
- Corrosion from liquid damage progresses and destroys further components
- The function stops working completely instead of working intermittently
- Instead of trace regeneration, a full motherboard replacement may be needed
How trace regeneration works at our service centre
1. Free inspection under the microscope
We pinpoint exactly where the trace is broken and assess the extent of the damage.
2. Cleaning the damaged area
We remove corrosion or the damaged section of the circuit, preparing the area for regeneration.
3. Restoring the trace
Using special lacquer and precision soldering, we restore the conductive connection under the microscope.
4. Testing and verification
We test the restored circuit and pass the laptop through our three-stage quality control.
Above we describe how the process works in our service. This is not a DIY repair guide — trace regeneration requires a microscope, specialist conductive lacquers and extensive experience, so we recommend bringing your laptop to a service centre.

Frequently asked questions
Can a laptop be repaired after a torn-out USB-C port?
In most cases, yes. First we restore the damaged traces under a microscope, and only then do we fit the new port.
What does motherboard trace regeneration mean?
It’s the restoration of a broken or damaged connection on the motherboard circuit, for example with specialist conductive lacquer, carried out under a microscope.
Can a motherboard be repaired after a failed repair at another service?
Often yes, though it requires more thorough diagnostics to locate all the damaged areas. We always start with a free inspection.
How long does motherboard trace regeneration take?
The repair usually takes 1–3 working days; in more complex cases we agree the timeframe individually after diagnosis.
How much does trace regeneration cost?
You’ll find current rates in our price list — we always provide an exact quote after free diagnostics.
Prices for all services can be found in our price list.
