Wondering whether a damaged laptop motherboard can be repaired at all, or if it’s better to look for a new one straight away? We explain honestly when repair makes sense and when it’s genuinely better to replace the board. Repair usually takes 1–3 working days.
In short: We repair laptop motherboards — reballing, chip replacement, trace reconstruction, CPU replacement and any power management ICs. However, we don’t undertake repairs when there’s been complete burn-through with a visible hole or a short between the board’s layers — such damage can theoretically be repaired, but in practice it’s too complicated and uneconomical. Service available in Warsaw, repair usually takes 1–3 working days.
Our experience in motherboard repair
We repair practically everything related to the motherboard — from BGA reballing to replacing power management ICs. We have reliable suppliers and can order new, used or compatible parts, matched to the client’s budget. The only question we always ask ourselves and the client is: is this particular repair economically viable.

When we don’t undertake motherboard repair
It’s not worth repairing the board when we’re dealing with complete burn-through with a visible hole or a short between the board’s layers (the board usually consists of several, most often five, sometimes more layers). Theoretically it can be repaired, but in practice it’s too complicated, because it would require cutting the board, making a hole and running new conductors between the layers — it simply doesn’t pay. In such cases, buying a new motherboard works out cheaper. Motherboards are sold at almost the price of an entire laptop, but thanks to our suppliers and wholesale discounts resulting from large-scale orders, sometimes it’s still economical. During the free inspection we always give the exact cost of replacing the board.
We never tell a client „let’s try, and the attempt will cost such and such”. We always say specifically: it can be done or it can’t. If you’re looking for a service that will suggest „let’s try” — that’s definitely not us.
When you’re looking for information about motherboard repair
Usually people come to us who search online for: „is it worth repairing a laptop motherboard”, „laptop motherboard repair or replacement” or „how much does motherboard repair cost Warsaw”. If you recognise your situation in these phrases, you’ll probably solve it right here with us.
Symptoms — when it’s worth checking the motherboard’s condition
- Laptop doesn’t start at all despite a working power supply
- Visible signs of burn-through or melting on the board
- Laptop was previously water damaged or had a short circuit
- Previous repair at another service centre didn’t bring results
- You want to know whether a repair is worthwhile before you decide to replace the motherboard
Honesty in this industry means telling the customer straight when a repair isn’t worthwhile. We’d rather lose a job than take money for something that won’t work out anyway or will cost more than a new motherboard.

What happens if you delay the decision
A damaged motherboard won’t fix itself, and putting off the decision to repair or replace usually means that:
- Minor damage that could have been repaired cheaply is no longer relevant once further faults appear
- The risk increases that availability of replacement motherboards for that model will decrease
- It becomes harder to recover data from the drive if the laptop won’t start at all
- The time during which the laptop is completely unusable gets longer
How motherboard assessment works at our service centre
1. Free inspection
We check the exact extent of motherboard damage under a microscope and with an oscilloscope.
2. Honest assessment of cost-effectiveness
We tell you straight whether repairing the damage is worthwhile or whether replacing the motherboard is the better option.
3. Repair or replacement
Depending on your decision, we either repair the damaged component or fit a new motherboard.
4. Testing and quality control
We test the laptop’s stability and put it through our three-stage quality control process.
The above describes how the process works in our service centre. This is not a DIY repair guide — assessing whether a motherboard repair is worthwhile and carrying out the repair requires specialist equipment and experience, so we recommend bringing your laptop to a service centre.

Frequently asked questions
When is motherboard repair not worthwhile?
Mainly when the board is completely burnt through with a visible hole or a breach between its layers — such damage is technically too complex and costly to repair.
Do you always say clearly whether a repair makes sense?
Yes, we always give a straightforward assessment — it can be repaired or it can’t. We don’t suggest repairs „on a trial basis”.
Is replacing the entire motherboard very expensive?
Motherboards are usually sold at close to the price of the whole laptop, but thanks to our suppliers and wholesale discounts we can sometimes find a better price. We provide an exact quote after inspection.
How long does motherboard assessment and repair take?
Repair usually takes 1–3 working days; in more complex cases we agree the timeframe individually after diagnosis.
Prices for all services can be found in our price list.
