Lenovo laptop diagnostics in Warsaw — not sure what’s broken? The free inspection takes 5–15 minutes and we carry it out regardless of whether you decide to proceed with the repair. Extended diagnostics is free if we perform the repair.
In short: At our service centre in Warsaw, we distinguish between two things. Free inspection takes 5–15 minutes, is always free and allows us to determine what’s wrong with your Lenovo. Extended diagnostics means full disassembly and measurements on the motherboard — takes 1–3 working days and is free if we perform the repair. With Lenovo, diagnostics usually goes faster because full technical documentation is available for these models.
Our experience — Lenovo laptop diagnostics
At our service centre in Warsaw, we’ve carried out 27 Lenovo laptop diagnostics. We most often see models from the IdeaPad, ThinkPad, Legion and Yoga series — both with obvious faults and with problems requiring full measurements on the motherboard.

Lenovo is easier to diagnose than any other brand
Lenovo is the best suited for repair. These are very well-made laptops, and on top of that, full technical documentation for these models is available online. According to our service centre’s assessment, Lenovo is the most repairable laptop on the market.

For diagnostics, this has very concrete significance. Having the service schematic for a specific model, we don’t search blindly — we know what voltages should be present at a given point on the board and at what power state. Thanks to this, determining the cause of a fault in a Lenovo usually takes less time than with brands for which documentation is unavailable.
Our Apenfix technicians can read these schematics — some of them have higher education, including graduates of the Military University of Technology in electronics and telecommunications.
Free inspection vs extended diagnostics — not the same thing
Most service centres call what is really just a basic inspection 'diagnostics’. We distinguish between these two services to avoid any misunderstanding about price and scope.
Free inspection
5–15 minutes. Always free. We connect the laptop to a laboratory power supply, measure current draw and determine the preliminary cause. Free regardless of whether you decide to proceed with the repair.
Extended diagnostics
1–3 working days. Full disassembly, voltage measurements on the motherboard, checking circuits according to the service schematic. Free if we perform the repair. Charged only if you decide not to proceed.
After the free inspection, the technician will always tell you straight away whether the problem is obvious or whether extended diagnostics are needed. We always quote the price for extended diagnostics before carrying it out, and it’s fixed — even if during the process we need to order an integrated circuit that costs more than the diagnostics itself.
When you’re looking for laptop diagnostics
You’re here because you’re searching for answers to questions like: laptop won’t turn on what to do, what’s broken in my laptop, how much does laptop inspection cost or free laptop diagnostics Warsaw. It’s all the same situation — we need to identify the cause before we can fix anything.
How the free inspection works step by step
The scope of the inspection depends on what you bring in. The most common case is a laptop that won’t turn on. In that situation, we proceed as follows:
- We connect a lab power supply — nearly all laptops run on 19 V. We check whether the laptop draws any voltage at all.
- We measure current draw — this is the most important diagnostic parameter.
- We press the power button and observe the changes — the way the current draw rises and jumps tells us whether the laptop is going through initialisation.
- We compare the result with our database — based on the model and power consumption, we estimate the repair cost and time.
What power consumption reveals — and why it tells us so much
The laptop’s behaviour after connecting the lab power supply allows us to narrow down the cause at this stage:
- Laptop not drawing any power at all — likely a break in the power line, damaged input transistors, faulty charging port, or frozen BIOS.
- It draws maximum current, the short circuit indicator lights up — we disconnect it immediately. This means a short circuit on the motherboard in one hundred percent of cases, usually on a high-current line.
- Draws a constant, low current — e.g. 0.3 A — and doesn’t respond to the power button — this usually indicates a more serious problem: the KBC circuit (EC microcontroller responsible for the keyboard and power-on, among other things), the processor, or the graphics card.
- Current draw jumps when you press the power button — 0.3 A, 0.5, 1 A, 1.5 A — that’s a good sign, the laptop is going through initialisation.
- Current draw stops at one point — e.g. it gets stuck at 0.6 A. Most likely the BIOS has frozen. A full disassembly and EC controller reset often helps.
It’s worth adding that BIOS freezing also happens in laptops that haven’t been serviced for a long time — somewhere a contact fails and the system simply gets stuck. In such cases, a full disassembly and EC controller reset can bring the device back to life without replacing anything.
Our advantage: a knowledge base instead of technician memory
What sets us apart is that we record every repair in our own integrated knowledge base. In most repair shops, experience relies on what the technician remembers — and when they change jobs, all that experience leaves with them. With us, all technicians who have worked, are working, and will work maintain a full technical knowledge base.

In practice, it works like this: we have a large number of orders, so we have statistics on what most commonly fails in specific models. Thanks to this — knowing the Lenovo model and seeing how much current it draws — we can estimate the cost and time of repair quite precisely even during the free inspection. This is the effect of large numbers: the more cases we’ve collected, the more accurate the initial assessment.
Extended diagnostics — what exactly we check
When the cause isn’t obvious, we disassemble the laptop and measure voltages on the motherboard. The starting point is always the same:
- Base voltages 3.3 V and 5 V — must be present on the board after connecting power. The BIOS and EC controller are powered from these voltages. If they’re missing, the laptop physically cannot start.
- Voltages on inductors — we check them according to the service schematic, comparing with the values specified for a given power state of the board.
- Looking for breaks — if, for example, 5 V is missing, we trace the line to the power circuit and check what’s blocking it.
- BIOS verification — we have BIOS programmers, so we can desolder the memory chip and reprogram it.
- Individual component level — we can identify a specific shorted capacitor or damaged component on the board.
Our diagnostics work like an X-ray. We can break down a laptop into its basic elements and check everything to know with absolute certainty what exactly is damaged. With laptops, establishing what’s broken takes the most time — the actual repair is simpler, because you know which chip to replace.

How much does diagnostics cost
- Free inspection — always free, regardless of whether you leave the laptop at the service centre.
- Extended diagnostics with repair — free of charge, included in the service.
- Extended diagnostics without repair — charged according to the price list. We always quote the price before starting work.
- The extended diagnostics fee is fixed, even if we need to order more expensive parts during the process to verify the fault.

Why Apenfix
Frequently asked questions
Is Lenovo laptop diagnostics free?
Free inspection — yes, always and with no obligation. Extended diagnostics is free if we carry out the repair; it’s only charged if you decide not to proceed with the repair.
How long does diagnostics take?
A free inspection takes 5–15 minutes — you can wait. Extended diagnostics usually takes 1–3 working days. With Lenovo it’s often quicker, because we have full service documentation for these models.
Why is Lenovo easier to diagnose?
Because full technical documentation is available for these laptops. With service schematics, we know exactly what voltages should be present at each point on the motherboard — we’re not searching in the dark.
How do you know what the repair will cost before you take the laptop apart?
From our knowledge base. We record every repair, so we have statistics on typical faults in specific models. Knowing the Lenovo model and power consumption, we can give a preliminary estimate of cost and time during the free inspection.
Do you also repair motherboards after diagnostics?
Yes. We have microscopes, a soldering station and BIOS programmers, as well as service schematics for popular models. We can identify and replace the specific faulty component on the motherboard.
Prices for all services can be found in our price list.
