You’ve already been to several repair shops and no one could find the cause of the fault? These are exactly the cases that come to us most often. Diagnosing such faults usually takes 1–3 days, in the most complex situations — up to a month.
In brief: we handle cases where other repair shops couldn’t find the cause of the fault — from hidden short circuits on the motherboard to unusual failures specific to particular models. Diagnosis usually takes 1–3 days, in extremely difficult cases up to a month. If repair is technically impossible, we say so directly. Current rates can be found in the price list.
Our experience with difficult and unusual repairs
We approach difficult cases methodically — microscopes, oscilloscopes, laboratory power supplies and programmers allow us to check each component on the motherboard one by one, instead of guessing. We can perform reballing, replace individual microchips and reconstruct damaged traces on the board — this means we take on faults that other repair shops give up on.

Two cases from our practice
Asus Zenbook that kept shutting itself down. Everything pointed to the screen — all voltages and frequencies were normal. We replaced the screen — it didn’t help. We ordered a new ribbon cable — also no effect. We checked all voltages again — everything was correct. It turned out the culprit was a microchip responsible for handling the screen, which Asus simply doesn’t sell as a separate part. With such an expensive motherboard and no available components, this model proved practically unrepairable.
Hidden short circuit in a microcapacitor. One of the more difficult cases we’ve had — a short circuit hidden in a single, very small capacitor. This component didn’t heat up, showed no typical symptoms, was located in a low-voltage, three-volt power line and didn’t always cause a short circuit — which is why it was hard to locate using standard methods. Eventually we managed to locate it, desolder it and replace it — the laptop returned to full working order.
When you’re looking for help with a difficult case
You usually come to us when you’ve already been to another repair shop and the problem wasn’t solved, the laptop shuts down randomly for no apparent reason, the fault appears and disappears or no one can diagnose what’s wrong.
Symptoms typical of difficult cases
- Laptop shuts down or restarts randomly for no apparent reason
- Fault appears irregularly, difficult to reproduce
- All 'obvious’ components have already been checked or replaced
- Another repair shop couldn’t diagnose the cause
- The symptom points to one part, but replacing it changes nothing
The level of difficulty correlates with my level of interest — the more unusual the case, the more curious I am to check what’s actually broken inside.
Apenfix technician
When we honestly say a repair won’t work
- When the motherboard is completely burnt through, with a hole in it
- When there’s an interlayer short in the motherboard
- When the manufacturer doesn’t sell a crucial, essential replacement part
- We don’t suggest 'trying it out’ — we tell you this upfront before starting the repair
How we handle a difficult case at our service centre
1. Extended diagnostics
We check component by component using laboratory equipment, instead of guessing.
2. Identifying the source of the fault
We verify every hypothesis before taking action.
3. Information about repair options
We tell you straight whether the repair is technically possible and makes sense.
4. Repair and quality control
We carry out the repair and test system stability before collection.
In the most complex cases, the entire process can take up to a month if a rare part needs to be sourced.

Frequently asked questions
I’ve already been to another repair shop and no one found the fault — is it worth trying with you?
Yes, these are exactly the cases that come to us most often. Using laboratory equipment, we check the motherboard element by element, which allows us to find even hidden faults.
How long does diagnosis of a difficult case take?
Usually 1–3 working days, and in the most complex situations up to a month.
Can every fault be repaired?
No. With complete motherboard burnout or inter-layer breakdown, and also when the manufacturer doesn’t sell the necessary part, we tell you this directly, rather than proposing a repair „on trial”.
Is diagnosis of a difficult case charged?
Extended diagnostics is free if you decide to proceed with the repair, and its cost otherwise is always given upfront. Additionally, it’s covered by our guarantee — if it turns out to be incorrect, we refund the cost.
What if repair of my model turns out to be impossible?
We inform you honestly and explain the reason, e.g. unavailability of parts from the manufacturer — as in the case of some Asus Zenbook models.
Current rates for extended diagnostics and repairs of difficult cases can be found in our price list.
