Asus laptop diagnostics in Warsaw — not sure what’s broken? The free inspection takes 5–15 minutes and we carry it out regardless of whether you decide to proceed with the repair. Extended diagnostics is free if we perform the repair.
In short: At our service centre in Warsaw, we distinguish between two things. Free inspection takes 5–15 minutes, is always free and allows us to determine what’s wrong with your Asus. Extended diagnostics means full disassembly and measurements on the motherboard — takes 1–3 working days and is free if we perform the repair. Only charged if you decide not to proceed with the repair.
Our experience — Asus laptop diagnostics
At our service centre in Warsaw, we’ve carried out 25 Asus laptop diagnostics, and in total we’ve serviced over 200 laptops of this brand — from office Vivobooks and Zenbook ultrabooks to gaming ROG and TUF models.

With Asus, the statistics from our knowledge base count double
Asus produces such varied models that two laptops of the same brand can differ from each other more than an Asus differs from a Lenovo or Dell. There’s no single feature that unites them. That’s why we treat each model separately.

This has a direct impact on diagnostics. With brands that have consistent construction, experience from one model transfers to others. With Asus, that’s not the case — Zenbook, Vivobook and ROG are practically separate worlds in terms of board layout and power sections.
That’s why our knowledge base is particularly valuable with this brand. Instead of relying on general intuition, we draw on statistics for the specific model — what most commonly fails in it and how it behaved with similar symptoms. A small but useful piece of information to start with: on Asus laptops, you usually enter the BIOS using the F2 key.
Free inspection vs extended diagnostics — they’re not the same thing
Most service centres call what is really just a basic inspection 'diagnostics’. We distinguish between these two services to avoid any misunderstanding about price and scope.
Free inspection
5–15 minutes. Always free. We connect the laptop to a laboratory power supply, measure current draw and establish the initial cause. Free regardless of whether you decide to proceed with the repair.
Extended diagnostics
1–3 working days. Full disassembly, voltage measurements on the motherboard, checking circuits according to the service schematic. Free if we perform the repair. Only charged if you decide not to proceed.
After the free inspection, the Apenfix technician will always tell you straight away whether the problem is obvious or whether extended diagnostics are needed. We always give you the price of extended diagnostics before we carry it out, and it’s fixed — even if we have to order an integrated circuit that costs more than the diagnostics themselves.
When you’re looking for laptop diagnostics
You’ve found this page if you’re searching for answers to questions like: laptop won’t turn on what to do, what’s broken in my laptop, how much does it cost to check a laptop or free laptop diagnostics Warsaw. It’s all the same situation — we need to establish the cause before we can repair anything.
How the free inspection works step by step
The scope of the inspection depends on what you bring in. The most common case is a laptop that’s stopped turning on. In that case, we proceed as follows:
- We connect a lab power supply — almost all laptops run on 19 V. We check whether the laptop draws any voltage at all.
- We measure current draw — this is the most important diagnostic parameter.
- We press the power button and observe the changes — the way current draw rises and jumps tells us whether the laptop is going through initialisation.
- We compare the result with our database — based on the model and current draw, we estimate the cost and time of the repair.
What current draw tells us — and why it reveals so much
The laptop’s behaviour after connecting the lab power supply alone allows us to narrow down the cause at this stage:
- The laptop doesn’t draw any current at all — probably a break in the power line, damaged input transistors, a faulty charging port, or a frozen BIOS.
- It draws maximum current, the short-circuit indicator lights up — we disconnect immediately. This means a short circuit on the motherboard one hundred per cent of the time, usually on a high-current line.
- It draws steady, low current — e.g. 0.3 A — and doesn’t respond to the button — this is usually a more serious problem: the KBC circuit (the EC microcontroller responsible for the keyboard and power-on, among other things), the processor, or the graphics card.
- Current draw jumps when the button is pressed — 0.3 A, 0.5, 1 A, 1.5 A — that’s a good sign, the laptop is going through initialisation.
- Current draw stops at one point — e.g. stuck at 0.6 A. Most likely the BIOS has frozen. A full disassembly and EC controller reset often helps.
In powerful gaming models like ROG and TUF there’s one more lead — these laptops run very hot, so with unclear symptoms we always check the cooling system as well. Sometimes what looks like a motherboard failure turns out to be the result of prolonged overheating.
Our advantage: knowledge base instead of technician memory
What sets us apart is that we record every repair in our own integrated knowledge base. In most repair shops, experience relies on what the technician remembers — and when they leave, all that experience goes with them. With us, all technicians who have worked, are working, and will work maintain a complete technical knowledge base.

We also collect service schematics for popular models in the database. Our technicians know how to read them — some have university degrees, including graduates of the Military University of Technology in electronics and telecommunications.
Extended diagnostics — what exactly we check
When the cause isn’t obvious, we disassemble the laptop and measure voltages on the motherboard. The starting point is always the same:
- Base voltages 3.3 V and 5 V — must be present on the board when power is connected. These voltages power the BIOS and EC controller. If they’re missing, the laptop physically cannot start.
- Voltages on inductors — we check them according to the service schematic, comparing with the values expected for a given power state of the board.
- Looking for breaks — if, for example, 5 V is missing, we trace the line to the power circuit and check what’s blocking it.
- BIOS verification — we have BIOS programmers, so we can desolder the memory chip and reprogram it.
- Individual component level — we can pinpoint a specific shorted capacitor or damaged component on the board.
Our diagnostics work like an X-ray. We can break a laptop down to its basic elements and check everything to know with absolute certainty what exactly is damaged. With laptops, establishing what’s broken takes the most time — the actual repair is simpler, because you know which chip to replace.

How much does diagnostics cost
- Free inspection — always free, regardless of whether you leave the laptop at the service centre.
- Extended diagnostics with repair — free of charge, included in the service.
- Extended diagnostics without repair — charged according to the price list. We always provide the price before starting work.
- The price of extended diagnostics is fixed, even if we need to order more expensive parts during the process to verify the fault.

Why Apenfix
Frequently asked questions
Is Asus laptop diagnostics free?
Free inspection — yes, always and with no obligation. Extended diagnostics is free if we carry out the repair; it’s only charged if you decide not to proceed with the repair.
How long does diagnostics take?
Free inspection takes 5–15 minutes — you can wait. Extended diagnostics usually takes 1–3 working days, as it requires complete disassembly and measurements on the motherboard.
Is diagnostics the same for every Asus model?
No. Asus models vary significantly — Zenbook, Vivobook and ROG have different motherboard designs. That’s why we treat each model individually and rely on statistics from our knowledge base.
How do you know how much the repair will cost before taking the laptop apart?
From our knowledge base. We record every repair, so we have statistics on typical faults in specific models. Knowing the Asus model and power consumption, we can provide an initial cost and time estimate during the free inspection.
Do you also repair motherboards after diagnostics?
Yes. We have microscopes, a soldering station and BIOS programmers, as well as service schematics for popular models. We can identify and replace specific damaged components on the motherboard.
Prices for all services can be found in our price list.
